woo. i'm back from my angkor-temple-exploring tomb-raider-wannabe trip from cambodia! it was an eyeopener and definitely a change from my usual holiday destinations.
but i made the fatal error of eating this dubious looking dish from this dubious looking stall along this dubious looking road ( outside this dubious... (well, you get the point) ok, just outside one of the angkor temples cause it was the only place within 10000km that served food! and of course, my lousy stomach couldn't take it and now, 2 days later from that fateful meal, i'm back in singapore suffering the full blow of gastroenteritis!! stomach flu!! gastric flu!! ba tor bo song!! argh.
so after a really bumpy ride on the plane, (who of all days, had to be a flight that needed to make a stopover at danang, vietnam hence prolonging my agony) i made it back to singapore and my mum rushed me tstraight to my family gp from the airport when she discovered i was running a temperature 38.5degrees. how shitty. first person i see back in singapore is my family doctor. ho ho.
this is how the clerking went:
doctor: "so how are you?"
me: "ergh."
doctor: "not feeling well i see?"
me: "ergh"
doctor: "what's wrong with you?"
me: "nausea, bloatedness, fever, no appetite, weak... "
doctor:"hmm, ic, have you been eating anything? travelling anywhere?"
me: "yea, i just came back from cambodia...."
doctor: "WHAT THE HELL YOU DOING IN CAMBODIA!!!"
me: "ergh"
wah i really suck man. 3rd world country really doesn't agree with me. but then again i'm glad the only 3rd world country i've been to is cambodia, and i managed to see the famous angkor temples of siem reap! travelling with a good friend is fun, only cause he had the same budget as me (both willing to splurge abit), both willing to live it up (splurge a bit), and finally i'm not the shortest guy on the trip!!! haha (sorry daniel)
anyway it was great fun. but ask me to do it again? i quote from a friend of mine who had already gone to angkor before and when i asked whether she wanted to go back to angkor again....
"ME?! CAMBODIA?! AGAIN!?
ARE YOU MAD?!"
haha ok maybe not to that extreme. but i'd have to train up my stomach to be able to tahan roadside stall food before i consider going on such trips again!
shall blog more abt the trip next time... when my appetite catches up with me again. i've lost 1kg already for goodness sake!!!
